But today I was reminded why I am an Android fan.
Many of you have installed Microsoft Office Mobile on your android phones, iOS devices and, of course, Windows tablets. Unfortunately the android tablets have been left out of the fun. But with android, there’s always a way and at 6:30am I was able to install Office Mobile on my Samsung 10.1 tablet from my HTC OneM8 with an easy process of copying the .apk file from my phone, installing in on my tablet, and installing another app that allowed me to use Office in landscape mode.
Here’s what you will need:
- An Office 365 account.
- Office Mobile installed and working on a phone.
- An android tablet ready and willing to use Office Mobile.
- MyAppSharer app from Google Play.
- And, if you want to use in landscape mode, the Rotation Anywhere app from Google Play. I payed for the pro version to get some more versatility out of it. It was less than $2.
Now, jump over to GottaBeMobile and follow the easy-to-follow steps to export your .apk from your phone, transfer the file via DropBox or other file sharing application, and installing Office Mobile on your tablet. Throw Rotation Anywhere on the tablet and just like that, instant productivity with connectivity into your OneDrive account and the ability to create and use Office documents.
Microsoft will probably get the promised Android tablet version of Office Mobile out before many of you try this little hack, but there are always a few of us that just can’t wait. To me, that’s what sets android apart from the iOS platform. It’s simply more agile and open for those of us crazy enough to play around inside of it and bend the devices to do our bidding.

Disclosure: As member of a pretty cool team of influencers, I received the HTC One M8 and the Samsung Note 10.1 2014 Edition with line of service from Verizon. No additional compensation was provided nor did I promise a positive review. All opinions are my own.
